Privacy

The Privacy module is for a non-technical owner who needs visible proof of compliance quickly: a consent banner on the site, published policies, a cookie inventory that stays current, and a form for data-subject requests. RolChat is a tool, not a legal advisor; every generated document says so, and you own and edit all of it.

Three questions (your website URL, your business type and whether you sell physical goods) plus what the scanner found on your site (cookies, vendors, languages) produce a profile: business type, jurisdictions (also detected from where your visitors come from), data categories, vendors, languages and a retention preset. From that profile RolChat generates four to seven documents in English: privacy policy, cookie policy, terms of service, a DSAR form text and, where relevant, others. Generation takes about a minute.

/privacy shows one status line (You’re compliant, last check, next scan), at a glance counters (cookies detected, policies published, open DSARs, jurisdictions covered), the policies with edit links, this week’s activity (scanner runs, law updates applied, new vendors added to the banner), what is verified on your site (banner, policy pages, DSAR form), and the banner playground. After seven quiet days the dashboard collapses to a badge and an activity link.

Overview · Activity · Policies · Embed · Advanced. Advanced holds IAB TCF, Google Consent Mode, Global Privacy Control, vendor lists, presets and domain rules for people who need them; the default screens show no legal jargon.

Each policy opens in a Notion-style editor. Required sections are locked against deletion but fully editable; custom sections can be added or removed. Per-section AI buttons rephrase, simplify, expand or translate using your own AI provider. Auto-save on every keystroke; saved is live. Before first publication you tick I reviewed this, and the timestamp is kept. Translations into any of the 40 languages are added as tabs.

When a law changes, RolChat proposes the paragraph that changes and asks you to review it; nothing is rewritten silently.

The playground lets you configure buttons (one, two, three or notice-only; manage choices as a button or inline link), size, style (four presets or full custom colours), placement (twelve positions from a bottom bar to a full screen), language (all 40, right-to-left included) and the rule set per jurisdiction: all US states, Europe and the rest of the world. Button strategy follows the law: equal accept and reject in the EU, EEA and UK; privacy choices and opt-out in California and comprehensive US states; notice-only where no baseline exists.

The preview is live: accept, reject, manage choices and save behave as they will on your site, and a receipt is rendered. Consent is stored server-side with a hash-chained receipt and shared with the widget, so chat and analytics obey the same decision.

One snippet, or one-click installation on Shopify, WordPress and Webflow. Verify checks that the banner is live on your pages and reports the last time it was seen.

A weekly crawl inventories cookies and scripts, classifies them, adds new vendors to the banner and updates the cookie policy. New findings appear in Activity.

A hosted DSAR form (/privacy/request on your site by default) creates a request in the compliance console with a deadline. Export and erasure run across every RolChat module and are logged with receipts. Erasure respects legal holds.

Google Consent Mode v2 is supported: when enabled per region, the banner writes the consent signals your Google tags read, on every page load, including revocation.

The Privacy module is a paid add-on: $5 a month or $50 a year per site, sold on every plan, Lite included (on Lite it is the only add-on). Each add-on licenses the module on one site. Without a licence the banner settings, vendors and domain rules cannot be changed, but the banner still records visitors’ consent, and settings already saved keep working.
